Robert M. Lee

Robert M. Lee (aka Bob Lee) was born on Long Island, New York. He grew up with a dentist father who had an artistic sensibility and a perfectionist mother who had a deep love for nature. Growing up on Long Island surrounded by countryside, the boy immersed himself in outdoor sports such as horseback riding, shooting, and fishing, showing glimpses of his talent at an early age. He mastered fly tying at the age of 9, and at 10, he devised his own rifle sighting system. Furthermore, at 14, he reportedly developed a cutting-edge, high-velocity rifle cartridge. Leveraging his manufacturing talent, he enrolled in a technical university, and after graduating, he worked as an architectural design engineer, undertaking numerous successful projects such as the construction of residential areas and artificial lakes, and the development of road systems in New York State.

The turning point came when he was 19 (1955). An opportunity arose for him to travel to Africa, a place he had admired since childhood. During his journey through Uganda and Tanzania, Bob Lee became completely captivated by Africa's magnificent nature.

He then decided to live in Africa, and in 1959, he established his own expedition company, "Lee Expeditions," on site to arrange safari tours.

However, as his business expanded smoothly, Bob Lee began to harbor a certain dissatisfaction.

This was because the existing camping equipment and luggage used for tour arrangements and the like were too flimsy.

That's when Bob Lee, a man with a gift for craftsmanship, decided to design and produce these items himself.

His tough and functional original goods not only satisfied his tour clients but eventually became widely acclaimed and used by explorers active in Africa.

Yes, that was the origin of Hunting World. It all stemmed inevitably from Bob Lee's real-life experiences and talent.
